Mr. Sergio Martinez is the UTRGV-Edinburg CISD Collegiate Academic Counselor. He is a graduate of Edinburg High School and attended the University of Texas-Pan American where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Services. He continued his education at Lamar University where he obtained a Master of Education degree in School Counseling and completed the Principal Certification Program. He has been in education for over a decade and has worked with students in different capacities. He started as an elementary teacher where he taught fourth and fifth grade students. He then continued his work as a school counselor serving students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. He has experience working with academic programs such as dual enrollment, Early College, P-Tech, and Migrant. Previous to working at Collegiate, Mr. Martinez was the migrant counselor at Edinburg North High School. Coming from a modest upbringing, Mr. Martinez knows firsthand that education unlocks a world of possibilities and believes that all children deserve a right to an education.
